Liverpool Tate

I recently visited the Liverpool Tate gallery with college. several particular pieces caught me eye, one of theses, was : three balls total equilibrium tank ( 2 dr j silver series, nba tip off) by Jeff Koony. this was a solid glass tank, with 3 basketballs inside, all different distances from each other. the reason this piece caught my eye was because of the way it captured movement and speed, also the way it reflects in the insides of the tank, because of the solid glass.

another piece of artwork which i found very interesting, was an exhibit which consisted of a room, which some old wooden furniture in the middle, with candles on it. and a large fire fighting hose pipe on the wall, however the hose pipe had a hand coming out of the end. after sitting for a long while and watching the hand, it became apparent that this was a human hand. at first i found this quite disguising, and this is the first piece of art which has had an impact on me

The New Church Hall in Hartford

While i have no problem spending £2 million on a new church hall (that is three times the size of the old one) i do have a problem with the very large wooden crucifix that hangs outside the church hall enterance with the words ' For You ' on it.
INSERT PIC
The words give the impression that the church is telling me that Jesus died for me, but why should I have this message pushed in my face whenever i decide to leave my house. it is of my opnion that Jesus never existed, nor do i believe in any religion, although i do understand alot of people do believe.I think it is wrong that the church in Hartford advertises faith in this way. I grew up attending a catholic church, and that church would never have any religious symbol in view of passers by, let alone a message like the one in Hartford.
When i thought about this, i began to think about advertisment posters in general for example shampoo. Can the church not see that it is cheapening its religeion and trying to sell it like a product rather than a faith.
In many ways I understand that a Church is a buisiness as it relies on money to stay open however i disagree with the way that it is brainwashing the public, new innovative ideas need to happen to change the brainwashing.

My Hero!!!!

For my latest unit in college i am completing a presentation on Marilyn Manson. This is because he is a massive inspiration to me, the way he acts, his music, and the way he looks at religeon and politics in my opinion is a very new and modern way of looking at these delicate subjects.
For example, with his album Antichrist Superstar, he was refering to himself as 'bigger than satan' and 'similar to jesus'. This was very controversial at the time and provoked alot of reaction from americans in the form of protests.
There was one particular american community that did not accept his belifs, and the way he portrayed himself, so they threatend Marilyn Manson, saying that if he came to their village he would be murderd.
Have these people ever listend to Marilyn Mansons' Lyrics? or are they judging him on his looks?
